PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Please disregard the announcement made recently in the president's letter of the steam locomotive operation at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal. The operation is cancelled.

The operation was considered firm, meetings were held, and plans were formulated. However, some technical problems developed and later the Harbor District had a change of heart. It's all off. Sorry about that.

Will you please help us sell tickets for the Puerto Penasco excursion scheduled for Saturday, November 9. This trip will be an exceptionally fine one and the Association might even make a little money. Brochures will be mailed out shortly and you may have extra copies if you call me at 469-1288. The excursion will be a most pleasant one and it will also offer an opportunity for contributing members and friends to become better acquainted with regular members. Come along, have some fun, and get better acquainted.

You are invited to attend the Sunday, October 20, general membership meeting. Agenda, we hope, will be limited to the election of officers, presentation of a budget, a question and answer period between members and the Board of Directors, and the showing of some San Diego Transit street car films and perhaps a few shots of San Diego railfan activities of recent years.

Don't forget to renew your membership and, if you are a contributing member, possibly switch to a regular membership. Either way, stay with us!

Hope to see you all on October 20 and November 9.

Sincerely Eric Sanders

If you cannot make it, be sure to write to your Report Editor, 2418 Edding Drive, Lemon Grove, Calif. 92045, for an absentee ballot. Time is running out, remember that the ballots must be returned to your editor by October 20.

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

A work party is planned for Sept. 28, to remove PSRMA equipment from Wally Barber's Commercial St. yard in La Mesa..... Beginning with the weekend of Sept. 28, a museum member will be on hand at the locomotives, to inform the public of museum activities and goals and to answer questions regarding the engines.......Got any money burning a hole in your pocket? PSRMA sure hasn't. In short we, like always, need that green stuff called money.....In an economy move the Report will only have one more issue this year, probably the same size as this one........GP locomotive No. 11 is in excellent shape, but it cannot be used until $900 dollars worth of boiler repairs are made. It seems that a few rivets need replacement in the area near the mudring........

SHAY TO BE FIRED UP OCTOBER 12

Our shay No. 3 will be test fired on Sat. Oct. 12. This will be the climax of the labors put in during September.

If time permits, members will be allowed to take instruction on the engine, under the following conditions:
